Laurel's programs adopt new technology for experiential learning

Laurel Technical Institutes have a robust array of course in technical education.

LTI offers career training programs in healthcare, Information technology, business and education programs, and now culinary arts.
Laurel not only provides students with a strong foundation to start a career, but also helps them make connections necessary to bridge the gap between school and work. With hands-on learning in professional skill-building settings, students get the upper hand in their chosen career path.
Students can explore healthcare program options and work in the office setting with Laurel's Health Information Technology or Medical Office Assistant programs, or expand into LTI's patient care programs with Clinical Medial Assistant, Respiratory Therapy or even animal care in the Veterinary Assistant program.
LTI's programs in cosmetology expand over a wide horizon of growing fields like nail care and art, skincare and makeup, hairstyling and care, and even massage therapy. Each program is designed to provide education for a sustainable career in a strong viable industry.
Laurel defines experiential learning as the process of learning through experience. That's why LTI is excited to be offering new learning technologies in most of its programs. Officials said LTI has approached education from a new innovative learning perspective in order to provide an even better hands-on experience.
Immersive learning technologies will transform the way students learn and interact in labs. The Respiratory Therapy program has adopted the RespiSim to bring instruction and lab time to life. The high-fidelity simulation experience brings better advantage to the clinical and critical care setting students train in during their time with LTI. A number of other programs have also adapted virtual reality software for its hands-on learning experience. Using Acadicus Software, LTI is able to provide customized learning in its Clinical Medical Assistant, Network Administration and Security, and Veterinary Assistant programs. Students can experience anything from administering medication to performing CPR on a patient. Acadicus offers a library of different scenarios for students to discover and learn. LTI officials feel that the ability to gain real-world knowledge in the classroom is vital to be able to apply it in the workforce.
Laurel applies the concept of experiential learning to all of its programs in a variety of ways, including its Cosmetology's Redken Premier Student Salon, the Culinary Art's Student Restaurant - Gigi's Table, and the Electrical Technician's simulation lab, just to name a few. Students benefit substantially from experiential learning by increasing critical thinking skills and problem solving skills, fostering creativity, assuming responsibility and more.
